If you have never heard of Photogrammetry, you are not alone.
I hadn't, until today's ASX announcement by Pointerra (ASX:3DP).
Pointerra has struck a partnership agreement with a US based company, Bentley Systems Inc.
Bentley is a billion dollar a year, global infrastructure software provider that supports engineers, architects, geospatial professionals, constructors, and asset owner-operators with a range of digital asset management solutions.
Photogrammetry, the process used by Bentley's software ContextCapture, is one of the more recent solutions offered by the company.
Put simply, ContextCapture's photogrammetry, ingests numerous still shots of an object, and turns them into a 3D image.

Ian Olsen, Co-Founder & Managing Director of Pointerra (ASX:3DP) explained to InsideMarket's Phil Carey, that the process is extremely demanding on computer resources.
To overcome the processing issue faced by Bentley clients the company recently shifted ContextCapture to the cloud.
But that only solved part of the problem and that is where Pointerra's 3D image manipulation software, partners with Bentley's softwareto create a seamless and simple process.
